Thrill of the Chase

Have you discovered this English vodka yet?

Nestled on a potato farm in Herefordshire is the multi award-winning Chase distillery, where a variety of world class vodkas (and gins, and whisky) are produced, providing something tantalising for every palate. For those searching for a high quality craft drink with both provenance and global recognition, Chase is one you should try.

William Chase was originally a potato farmer, then the producer of Tyrells crisps, and now makes spirits deep in the countryside. It’s a labour of love, with 250 potatoes going into every bottle, but William says that it’s the potatoes that give his single-estate, field to bottle vodka the sweetness and smoothness rarely found in grain vodkas. And it’s good too – in 2010, just two years after pouring the first vodka out of the still, Chase Original won Best in the World at San Francisco World Spirits Competition, beating off stiff competition from hundreds of competitors all around the world, including Russian and Polish heavyweights.

With five different vodkas in the stables, there’s something for everyone. The Original is so smooth and creamy, it can be poured over ice and sipped neat. For the festive season, Chase recommend using the Original to create a smooth Ginger and Honey Collins. Of the flavoured vodkas, we love the Elderflower with its deep floral nose and zesty tartness – how about topping up with your favourite Champagne for an Elderflower Royale to welcome in the New Year?
